ABOUT DELAYPAYOUTS
Independent guidance, with nothing to sell you
DelayPayouts exists to make flight passenger rights understandable — and to let you act on them yourself, for free.
What we are
We are an independent information website. We publish plain-English explanations of EU Regulation 261/2004 and the UK's equivalent passenger rights rules, plus free browser-based tools that help you work out what may apply and draft your own claim.
We are not an airline, a regulator, a law firm, or a claims management company. We do not submit claims on anyone's behalf, we do not take a commission from any compensation you receive, and we do not buy flight data about you.
What we are not
- We are not a source of legal advice. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and no solicitor-client relationship is created by using it.
- We are not affiliated with the European Commission, any national enforcement body, or the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
- We do not guarantee that any claim will succeed, or that any particular sum will be paid.
- We do not verify airline records or look up your booking. The checker is a self-reported educational screening tool.
How we approach the subject
Flight compensation is a topic with a lot of inflated marketing attached to it. Our approach is deliberately conservative:
- No invented success rates. We do not publish numbers we cannot substantiate.
- No promises of a payout. Amounts are described as reference amounts, with the conditions and exceptions set out next to them.
- Claiming directly is always presented as an option. It is free, and it keeps the full amount with you.
- Official sources are linked. Where a rule matters, we point you to the European Commission, EUR-Lex, or the CAA rather than asking you to take our word for it.
Privacy as a design decision
The rights checker and the claim letter builder both run entirely in your browser. Your trip details and the text of your letter are not transmitted to us or stored on a server. See the privacy notice for the detail.
Accuracy and review
Passenger rights rules are interpreted through court judgments and national enforcement practice, and the detail changes over time. We date every guide with the last review date. Where a figure or a threshold is subject to interpretation, we say so rather than presenting it as settled.
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please tell us. Corrections are welcome and are made openly.
